My name is Ellen Chabin and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor.
I believe in an eclectic approach to therapy that is tailored to the individual. In sessions, I pull from person-centered, cognitive behavioral, narrative, mindfulness, and solution-focused approaches depending on a client’s needs.
After leaving the business world, I took several years off to be a full-time mother for my two sons. As they grew older, I decided that I wanted to find a career that was more personally meaningful and fulfilling. When I went to therapy for my own life changing event, I saw its value firsthand. It changed my life and who I was as a person. So I decided to take an introduction to counseling class. I immediately felt like I had found what I needed to do and enrolled in the graduate counseling program at Regis University.
After graduation, I worked for several years at a local hospice, helping clients navigate their grief and loss. Although grief was the primary reason that my clients were requesting therapy, because they were human their grief was often complicated by other difficulties, especially anxiety and depression. Wanting to expand my counseling more fully into other areas, I decided to open my own practice, and Thoughtful Guide was born.
My combination of life experience and education has allowed me to confidently help clients while they deal with a variety of issues. I enjoy the collaborative process of setting goals and seeing clients grow and create a better life. My goal with each client is to be a thoughtful guide and help each of them find their own, unique pathway to health and happiness.
On a personal level, I love living in Colorado and have been here for over 40 years. My favorite way to pass my free time is with my significant other Brian, his two daughters, my two adult sons, and my dog Bentley. Much of this time is spent doing various fun things, including sports (tennis, yoga, and weightlifting for me), hiking, and listening to live music.
I look forward to working with you.
